On Tuesday, Aug. 23 students at Lake Oconee Academy were surprised by a visit from the ZuZu Acrobats. The ZuZu Acrobats, a group of performers who come together to teach people about the culture of Africa and show off acrobatic skills.

The ZuZu Acrobats originated from Mombasa, Kenya.  In the last ten years the acrobats have performed in over 25 countries, including Australia, China, Korea, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. The group has been performing in America since 1999, having gone from school to school.

The ZuZu Acrobats explain the culture of Eastern Africa and take time to teach children simple words in Swahili. For example Rafiki (friend) and Jambo (hello).

The experience was enriching for each student.Screen Shot 2016-09-06 at 12.38.36 PM Screen Shot 2016-09-06 at 12.38.22 PMScreen Shot 2016-09-06 at 12.38.50 PM
